Prices for Wedding Photography

The money bit

Okay, so the scary bit; Let’s talk money.

I’ve been in business for seven years now, so you can relax knowing that I am not going anywhere and I’ll still be around for your wedding. I’m also lucky enough to be a full-time photographer - so your wedding is my priority - I’ve not got someone else telling me what to do or how to spend my time. Well, I have my cat who demands food and the occasional scratch just below her ear, and sometimes likes to sit on my keyboard, but, you know what I mean…

What to expect

Every wedding is individual - as individual as the people who are getting married, and I know the money that you are putting into your day is important, so I understand that you want to make sure you are getting something - and someone - that is right for you.

Your wedding day is about you. And I put you front and centre of everything; I'm not just there to photograph the things that happen, but also help you, calm you, enthuse you, hype you, stand up for you. If something happens that might impact your day, I am going to be there to help you deal with it and advise you, and if I can, help fix it for you.

Pre-wedding meeting

Before your wedding, we’ll get together so that I can find out what your day will look like, what your expectations are and how I will fit into your plans.

What’s included

I hate surcharges and extras, so my prices are all inclusive - the price quoted is the price you pay and will never go up - and includes any travel or accommodation as needed.

Pre-wedding shoot

Ahead of the big day, we’ll have a mini photoshoot to help us get to know each other and work out what you do and don't like in terms of your pictures.

Years of experience

My experience and knowledge from over 100 weddings - this might be your first rodeo, but it sure ain't mine and there's not much I haven't seen at a wedding.

It's all about giving you a personal and luxurious experience that makes your day as special as it can ever be and of course, we are going to Ban Boring Photos!

“He was absolutely amazing from first contact, he is absolutely perfect as a photographer, relaxed and relaxing on the day, suited our style perfectly.

Family and friends have commented on how friendly he was to the point that they thought he was a family friend! Honestly if you need a photographer Alex is your guy you cannot go wrong hiring him!”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Of course! Click here to see one of my favourite galleries this year… (note, this gallery contains PENGUINS!)

  • This is a hot topic amongst photographers and it’s always one that really impacts upon inexperienced photographers more than experienced ones. Personally, I love shooting at new venues - they are more challenging…interesting…new…who wants to do the same thing every time? I certainly don’t. That said, I love going to some venues, particularly the venues where I am one of the preferred suppliers, because it means that those places share the same values, standards and a way of working as I do - like The Mill Barns near to Bridgnorth, where they put couples at the centre of everything, just like I do.

But anyway, when I am shooting at a new venue, I just arrive a little earlier than I say I will for you, and have a wander around, have a chat to the staff and see where the best places for pictures are. That way I will be basing my ideas for photos on the weather and the light on the day of the wedding itself.

  • Another brilliant and pertinent question. Photographers generally believe in Community Over Competition and so if I am poorly in some way and can’t make your wedding (and I would have to be dying or incapacitated to not shoot a wedding) then I would be onto the Facebook groups I am part of asking for someone who I know, and who is available to go and shoot it for me. They would have be of a similar or better standard to myself, and, like I say, I would have to know them and trust them, but I guarantee that it would be down to me to find you a photographer if I can’t make it to your wedding, not you.

  • Ahhhhhh, this is the big one…you don’t have to feed me, but it is greatly appreciated if you can and do provide me a meal, as it makes my life a whole lot easier and saves me having some sarnies in the car going dry and curled up, or even worse, having to leave the venue to go and find some hot food. As you will see on the day, I spend a lot of time on the go, running about, setting stuff up, taking it down, moving lighting, and all sorts of stuff. It’s tiring and the only real break I get on your wedding day is when you are eating so I try and make the most of it. I’ve even been known to nap. If you can supply a meal that’s brilliant and THANK YOU in advance, but if you are on a tight budget please don’t think you HAVE to. Oh, and no, I have no dietary requirements or fussy shit like that. You don’t get a body like mine by having dietary requirements…

  • This is a difficult one to answer as how many pictures I deliver sort of depends on how long I am there photographing your wedding and how much effort you guests put in to making it interesting! But generally, for my ‘Prep to Party’ package I like to deliver around 700 pictures. That way you have a good view of the day, but not too many that you can’t look at them all in one go. They are all in a high resolution JPEG format for ease of use by you, and you get them delivered digitally via an online gallery (without any watermarks or such shit). These you can share as you want and anyone who you give the link to will be able to download the images. You get a printing and usage licence meaning you pretty much can do what you want with them, because they are YOUR pictures of YOU and your guests. As long as you don’t sell them to the Daily Mail or The Sun then I am happy for you to do what you want with them.

  • I say it will be 4-6 weeks for delivery of your full gallery, but in reality it is often a lot quicker than that and I try to get the gallery to you as quickly as possible. I will keep you informed as to where you are on my editing list and if you follow me on instagram I often post my editing list so you can see where you are on that and get an idea of how long it will take. Oh, as a bit of a thing, you will get a sneak peek of about 20 or 30 images within 48 hours of your wedding ceremony to tide you over and give you something to post on your own social media, or to use as thank you cards.

  • Albums, photo books and parents’ books don’t form part of any of my packages but I can certainly provide you with books or prints, or wall art or mugs or key chains or anything else like that if you ask me too. But again, you don’t have to get me to do it and you will be paying me for my time in putting it together. You will have the same full size JPEGs as I will and album software has come a long way recently and they are far easier to put together than they have ever been - something you can do yourself on a Thursday night with a glass of wine, going through all the images picking your favourites for a book.

  • Yes, I do group shots; it’s just I rarely share any of them because they don’t really mean anything to someone who isn’t in the photo and so they get very little engagement with the algorithm. I actually think that group shots are very important from a philosophical photography point of view - they are taken pretty much at every wedding ever from the birth of photography with dudes with bow-ties and those big black blankets over their heads and massive wooden boxes on tripods through to modern day tiny mirrorless cameras…and me…so they form part of the social history of our families. These group shots will be the things that are printed and saved and shared and will be looked at in 100 years time and might be the only photograph of YOUR grandmother on that day - so your great grandchildren in the future will be looking back at them…I could bore you for hours about this shit, but, yeah I do DO do group shots - except that they can be a pain in the ass to do and can take 3-5 minutes EACH to set up and take, and they can be chaos. So I ask for a list of names for each one and limit the number to around 8 different shots so that you aren’t standing there for an hour being bored, fake smiling, staring at me, when you could and SHOULD be in it amongst your family and friends getting the party started…

  • Hell to the yes I am! I am a firm believer in insurance for personal reasons but I’m also a professional, so I take my obligations seriously and I am fully insured for both Public Liability and Business Indemnity. Also my personal kit is insured for accidental damage, so if I drop a lens, or a camera, you won’t see me cry - they are just tools of the job and they are insured to be replaced. Obviously that doesn’t mean I am going to juggle with my lenses, and I have spare kit in my bag in case equipment does break, but I’m not going to get all sulky if shit goes down and something breaks. To be honest kit is quite robust now, and it’s not a normal wedding for me if I haven’t dropped my camera off a table or fallen over carrying it, so I never worry about it. Speaking of Insurance - have you taken out some wedding insurance? I would strongly recommend it!

“Alex was great to work with! So accommodating, informative and supportive of what we wanted for our wedding photos. He kept in touch, responded to emails swiftly and made sure we were happy and planned the day with us fLAWLESSLY via as many zoom calls as we wanted! The photos were then evidence of all this hard work - amazing and truly captured the day! A consummate professional who I have no hesitation in recommending.”
