One of the questions most often asked by brides-to-be is the big one…”What happens to our pictures if it rains?” Well, don’t worry, no matter what your venue we will always get some spectacular pictures of your special day…and I recently spent a day learning from the master of flash, some techniques to see how to look for creative flash photography for inside a venue

I was given a wedding dress about a year ago, and I didn’t really know what to do with it - it certainly wouldn’t fit me! - until I realised it might fit Sam - a model from Oswestry who has an alternative look. Bright hair, tats, great outfits - she had the look that would counterpoint the traditional style of the dress with an alternative and modern twist.

Much can be said about a Barn Wedding, and much will be said by all those who attended Hayley and Tom’s big day at Pimhill Barm, Shrewsbury. Those words will include ‘beautiful’ ‘amazing’ ‘fun-filled’ ‘boozy’ and ‘best day ever’. And if they aren’t including any of those, well they are going to use words that are very, very similar!

So on perhaps the warmest windy day ever - a day in which I returned home from this shoot to find half the tree in my front garden had fallen down - I met up with Hayley and Tom for their wedding pre-shoot at the beautiful Haughmond Abbey, just outside Shrewsbury.

One of the best things about being a Shropshire Wedding Photographer is being able to meet new people and go to new places. Yesterday was such a day when I could do both! Martin and Clare are due to get married in October at the Richmond in Liverpool - a really urban hotel in the centre of the city - so for their wedding pre-shoot we decided to go back to nature and visit a favourite spot of theirs - Delamere Forest.

I love taking pictures, and I take a LOT of pictures, but they are invariably for someone else. They are work pictures, and whilst they are fun, they are not for me...so when I had the chance to work with a fabulous model friend and take some pictures for me...I jumped at the chance.

Sometimes, everything just goes perfectly. Yeah, there has been planning and a lot of work behind the scenes, but sometimes at a wedding, it all just runs perfectly from start to finish...and that is what happened for Nick and Claire for their wedding day recently. A perfect day.

It is easy to be sidetracked into thinking that there is more bad in the world than good - but it is possible to be reminded that there is good out there too, and I had first hand experience of that on Friday when I was called upon to photograph a wedding - well out of my usual area - at the amazingly newly refurbished Blackwell Grange in Darlington.

I am a big fan of learning about other cultures. I've travelled, I've spent time seeing people all round the world. I've taken time to talk to other people and learn about them and their lives and their cultures. This is why I think I am so happy to do cross cultural weddings - and fusion weddings are just the very best thing to photograph.
